A core component of ECSLA’s mission is strengthening the capacity of our churches to better engage with and serve their communities. We pursue this aim in a variety of ways, including assisting church leaders to know the needs, strengths, and potential partners in their community, as well as to better understand the physical and human assets in their midst. This has taken the form of group trainings as well as case-by-case consulting on new ministry ideas. Our disaster preparedness and response initiative is a targeted means of identifying how our churches can serve their community both pre- and post-disaster. Finally, by linking with a wider range of churches and partners, ECSLA is able to steer resources towards ministries that operate in a variety of locations, multiplying their impact and building connections and collaborations.
