Nell Bolton
Executive Director

Nell returned to her native New Orleans in December 2005 to work for healing and justice in Katrina recovery efforts, serving first at Trinity Church and joining the Diocesan team in January 2008. “This job allows me to connect to people of faith who want to make a positive change,”she says. Nell’s professional background and passion lies in the field of peacebuilding, with extensive experience in unstable post-conflict, post-disaster, and transitional contexts in Africa and South/Southeast Asia—not to mention here in southeast Louisiana. Nell holds a Master of Theological Studies degree from Emory University and a Master of Arts degree in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame. She loves dancing: everything from zydeco to swing, and can often be found biking through the French Quarter and along Bayou St. John.

Melanie Bias
Case Manager (Morgan City, LA)

Melanie holds a degree in General Studies from Nicholls State University where she studied psychology and criminal justice. She loves working with south Louisiana families helping them discover resources and opportunities that improves the quality of their livess. She’s proud that she’s able to connect her clients to jobs, housing and so much more. “I care about my clients and truly care about what happens to them,” she says. She loves to read and says that on any given weekend she can be counted on to throw a great impromptu party. Her two children are her number one priority and she’s proud of all they do.

Elaine Clements
Deacon   |   Diocesan Disaster Coordinator

Elaine is focused on helping people. She started her career working as a case manager for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and went onto work in Washington D.C. with the Children’s Defense Fund.  She holds a degree in Social Work from the University of North Texas and was ordained as a deacon in 2007. She loves every minute of her job. She especially appreciates her work with Episcopal Relief and Development, where she is part of a team that responds to national disasters. “I get to meet with a lot of people who are doing a lot a great work,” she says.  She’s an expert scuba diver and has explored the deep waters in Australia, Thailand and the Caribbean.

Stephanie Mabou
VISTA Volunteer for Disaster Preparation and Response

Stephanie holds a degree in biology from Louisiana College in Pineville, LA.  At one time she thought about becoming a physician, but realized she wanted to help people in a more spiritual way. She believes she’s now doing that helping churches in the diocese coordinate their disaster preparedness plans. “My job gives my life purpose, because I have the potential to effect positive change in the communities I serve,” she says.  Dancing on Frenchman Street or soaking up the sun in City Park are just a few of the things she loves to do.  She’s also the lead singer in a Weezer cover band.

Karen Mackey
Communications Director   |   Executive Administrative Assistant

Karen began her work with the Episcopal Diocese as a parish administrator at St. George’s and All Souls Episcopal churches. She loves her current position as ECSLA’s communication director because she says, “We do so much good for the community and I get to tell the world all about the great work we do.” She holds a Bachelor of Art degree in Interior Design from the University of Southern Mississippi and a certificate in Web Design from Delgado Community College. She loves capturing beauty with her photography and is a true movie fanatic. Currently, she is working her way through Alfred Hitchcock’s oeuvre.

Rashonda Mason
Director of Family Services

Rashonda is a born and raised New Orleanian who went to Nicholls State University. She’s been with ECSLA for more than five years and truly enjoys her job. “I love that I work with people who are so focused on our mission and who just get it done every single day,” she says. She believes she learned to be emphatic during her job as a bill collector. She discovered she was good at helping clients identify their strengths and resources. She’s also a professional artist specializing in paintings for baby’s nurseries. She strives to be a good and righteous woman, who sets a good example for her 7-year-old daughter, Jahzara.

Pete Nunnally
Living With Purpose Director   |   Mission and Volunteer Coordinator

Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Bridgewater College in his home state of Virginia. He came as a volunteer to New Orleans in 2006 and knew that helping rebuild this great American city was his calling. “Washing the muck and dirt of Katrina off every evening, I realized nothing was more important than helping people come home,” he says. It changed his life. So in 2008, he quit his teaching job, sold his house and moved “home.” He feels a deep and strong connection to the city. He enjoys singing and can often be heard crooning tunes in the ESCLA hallways.

Jacinta Sanders
Accountant

Jacinta holds a degree in Business Administration from Tulane University. It’s important to her to be proficient in all that she does and she prides herself in her great attention to detail. “I wanted to work and use my skills in the non-profit arena because it’s purposeful,” she says. Before coming to ECSLA she was responsible for centralizing all accounting procedures for KIPP: New Orleans Schools. She’s a runner with a Crescent City Classic 10K best-time of 62 minutes. She’s also an excellent cook. Two of her favorite recipes are duck with orange sauce and Cornish hen with oyster dressing. She truly enjoys accounting and believes in treating all people with respect.
